Salsa y Ternura is a San Juan dance school and community focused on salsa, with an explicit mission of inclusion, culture and fun. Founded in 2016 by Amalís Cintrón, it grew from a desire to create more conscious, respectful and welcoming dance spaces, and has worked with diverse communities including Deaf dancers, the elderly, women and the LGBTQIA+ community. The school teaches salsa, bachata, cha-cha-chá and rumba through group and private classes, with most group sessions at Dancing Dance Studio in Río Piedras and a free weekly salsa class at the Popular Center. Its emphasis is on partner connection, communication and building social-dance confidence.
